The Organ Piece Project
The Organ Piece Project comprises two works: 'Orgelstuk' (piece for organ) and 'Driehoek' (triangle). Both are loosely based on a mutual principle of algorithmic composition. The first being a book of graphical scores for street organ, the second a prototype of a sculpture: a pyramid in which a miniature organ is placed that executes another algorithmic music piece while opening the door.

Both pieces are based on the Fibonacci series and to a lesser extent on Pascal's triangle. The project is inspired by the works of Jan Boerman, who himself used mathematical principles to compose music. However, I do not consider the The Organ Piece Project being about music. It is a compositional study in score and graphical representation. The music is composed only by mere visual appearances, the composition of the image being of greater importance than the sounding result. As yet never performed by street organ, 'Orgelstuk' remains a purely conceptual work.
