Cultural Dependency is an installation as an office setting, with a modified keyboard. It is actually a standard QWERTY keyboard, only the keys are mirrored. It confronts the visitor with questions like: "How programmed are we ourselves?" and "Is freedom not just the ability to adapt to certain rules?"

Cultural Dependency was updated during my 2010 Artist in Residency period at Studio Kura in Japan. During this time I translated the piece to Japanese and presented it at my solo exhibition from August 7 - August 12. You can view a flyer for the event here. Some photos of the opening and the exhibit you can find here.

Cultural Dependency was presented at group show Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey @ CCD300 Cao Changdi Beijing, China in September 2010. Here you can view the flyer for the event and here some photo's.

Cultural Dependency was presented at the Interactive Playground hosted by VillaNuts on Thursday April 9th, 2009. Here you can view the flyer for the event.

Cultural Dependency was presented at the AS IF MA exhibit, February 6,7 & 8 @ AnnA in The Hague. You can see some photo's of the exhibit here.
